School has come to a close, graduation is almost here and some of our amazing D87 staff are set to retire! Stay tuned to our socials to help celebrate our retirees! First up, Anne Besler from BHS!
Join us in celebrating Anne Besler’s retirement, she has been part of the D87 family since 1996🎉! Mrs. Besler has been both a business and French teacher during her time at BHS, as well as teaching at the Bloomington Business Academy. Anne’s career started in the Waukegan School District, she later made the move to D87 with her Master’s in French already in hand and then completed a Master’s in Administration. Other roles at BHS that Anne took on included holding the lead teacher position for the Foreign Language Department and organizing student trips to France with homestays. Anne shares that her favorite part of working in D87 is knowing she could do something every day to make someone’s day better. 💜💛 💜💛
Highlights of her years in D87, include learning and collaborating with other educators during The Feast (a D87 professional development conference offered to D 87 educators during the summer), the “Gomer” basketball seasons at BHS when the student section added a huge stuffed turtle as a Raider fan 😂, and teaching and leading the freshman Raiders at Raider’s 101- a summer program that helps prepare incoming 9th-graders for life at BHS.
Now that retirement is on the horizon, Anne is looking forward to starting her days off a bit more leisurely, spending time with her adult children and grandkids, and sneaking in some more travel with her newly freed-up schedule! Fun fact most people don’t know about Mrs. Besler is she doesn’t like amusement parks😞! Best advice? Keep on smiling!
Anne also would like to extend her appreciation towards the support staff and various departments within D87 and BHS, highlighting the exceptional efforts of the custodial team, cafeteria staff, administrative assistants, counselors, HR support, and the tech department for their support over the years.
Let’s congratulate and wish Anne a fantastic retirement loaded with lots of family time and travel! Thank you for your years of service and enjoy your well-deserved retirement!
